BAMify Ads - Free Ad Network

Moving onwards and upwards

We’re seeing a bit of an explosion in sign ups at the moment, which is great to see and will help our existing users reach even greater audiences. So that’s good news for everyone!

It’s been interesting to read the comments coming in from both new and existing users. This feedback really helps us to shape the direction of BAMify Ads. Users who come up with a particularly cool suggestion might also find a few thousand credits heading their way, as a way of thanks! If you’ve had an idea you think might be worthy, please share it with us.

Anyhow, back to the focus of this post – what we have planned features wise

Ad Themes

We will be creating themes for AdSpaces so that you can amend the look and feel of
of the adverts that you display to suit your website. At first this is likely to start with a light and dark theme, but we will be adding more in the future.

Featured Ads

For a small fee your text adverts will appear bolded across all AdSpaces. Trials have proven that this can increase your click-through rate (CTR) by as much as 400%, even more on larger AdSpaces.

Reporting

Expect greater levels of detail, with more options to customise what you want to see – for instance, seeing which ads get the most impressions. Oh, and lots more pretty graphs!

Without wanting to bore you with techy talk, we’d also like to mention BAMify Ads is now on a faster, more stable platform, so you can be sure that ads are always served on your website quickly.

The changes will be implemented soon, so please get in touch once they are to let us know what you think.

New Year, New Look

2011 was a fantastic year for us, with more sign ups than ever and more websites in our network than we have ever experienced. We have also moved to a new server infrastructure, allowing us to serve more ads to more people all faster than ever possible before – and still with 0 downtime.

We were working hard over the holiday period to bring you the new look BAMify Ads website. The new website is easier to use, faster and most importantly explains the concept of BAMify Ads in a clearer way. Along with the new look the new website also has a few functionality additions. We now no longer just support your standard websites, but also work with mobile websites and even iPhone and Android apps. This all gives you the more reach than ever before – and it’s all still free.

What’s in store for 2012? Lots. We have partnerships in the pipeline that will secure a wealth of new users and websites, along with a ton of functionality changes we’ll be rolling out. We want to make 2012 a year to remember, and stay on track to become the world’s largest free ad network.

New Stats and Reporting

Over the last few months we’ve been working hard on the reporting for our users. We want to make sure that you can see exactly what’s going on with your ads, and how they’re being used across our network.

This weekend we launched the new statistics page. We have added some more values for you to look at, and some fancy graphs. The graph allows you to visualise the correlation between your adspaces and adverts. Ideally you want to keep your adspace impressions higher than your adverts, so that you always have credits in your account – these graphs make it easier for you to make this happen.

BAMify Ads Statistics

In addition to the graphs we have also added some new ad sizes. We now support all of the most common ad sizes, but we will be adding more as time goes on and as the network grows.

In the next couple of weeks we’ll be doing further tweaks. We’ll soon be adding date ranges to the reporting tools so you can measure a certain point in time. We are also looking at creating a Flash plug-in that serves BAMify Ads within your game or app.

Thanks for all of your support since we started, and we hope you enjoy the changes and stick with us as we grow.

Is Social Media Marketing Effective?

The latest wave in online marketing is social media marketing. With the introduction of social networks such as Facebook and MySpace over the last few years, along with growing success in websites such as Digg and Reddit, it’s not wonder that social media marketing has taken such an uptake.

Social media marketing is basically using social media platforms (such as those mentioned above) to generate traffic for a website. Often huge amounts of traffic.

One of the largest benefits of social media marketing is that fact that it’s free. No service that is worth using charges to be used. Reddit, Digg and Facebook are all totally free, and can generate astronomical amounts of traffic. It’s well known that having a front-page article on Digg (which is very attainable) is enough to bring most servers down due to large amounts of traffic. But is it effective? Well, like most things, it depends.

Before attempting social media marketing you need to think carefully about whether your product is right. The most successful social media campaigns are for products that the general public know and can relate to. Not many business-to-business campaigns do too well — this is largely due to the fact that social media is used by people predominately in their spare time, so they won’t be working when they’re socialising on the web. This is one of the key facts that businesses tend not to consider when launching a social media campaign.

Brand awareness is something brilliant that can come from social media marketing. Having your brand shown to millions of people through social media, where they’re actively looking and reading what it is you have to say, is priceless. Companies have made millions off the back of Twitter and Facebook, purely for having a good brand that people can relate to.

In summary, yes social media marketing is effective, so long as it’s right for you.

Online Advertising is up by 10.2% in Fourth Quarter

The title says it all, in the fourth quarter of 2010 advertising revenues are up by 10.2% on last year.

Who’s responsible for this increase? Well, no suprise, but Google is top of the list. Unlike past years though, Google’s competitors Yahoo, Microsoft and AOL have also have a very strong increase in revenues. My guess is that Yahoo/Microsoft’s share is going to rise in the next 12 months, with their search merger almost complete – that should make things slightly interesting. Google was accountable for nearly all of the growth in the third quarter.

The revenues generated by these top 4 companies in the fourth quarter has topped $9 billion, making this the second quarter of growth against last year’s heavy recession.

Online Advertising Costs More Than Ever

With online advertising being one of the fastest growing mediums for companies to use it’s no suprise that certain companies are taking it upon themselves to start cranking up the prices.

A recent article published by Bloomberg shows that Google’s average cost per click (CPC) has risen by over 3%. Most of the search companies are raising prices and their profits rise along with it.

The search industry is a little unusual when compared to traditional media companies. Like most businesses, selling advertising follows the supply and demand model. If you raise the prices then you will get less custom, similarly if you lower prices you will generally get more custom. It’s all about striking a happy medium. However, companies like Yahoo, Microsoft and Google all hold the search monopoly – their nearest competitor is Ask, who have a pitiful market share when put in comparison. This hefty market share means that they can essentially charge whatever they want for search advertising. Some companies may choose to not bother, but that only means more exposure for their competitors.

If only there was a way to advertise to the masses online for free…

IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report

Every quarter the IAB (a body responsible for Internet advertising) releases a report detailing the revenues and trends throughout the industry.  The latest one has just been released.

The main thing noticed is that revenues have increased by 11.3%.  That is one hell of a rise, but not unusual in this sector.  Online advertising has proven to nearly always be the most cost efficient and the most effective way to reach your target audience.  There is no other way to target a large number of people with such specific advertising like you can on the Internet.  The total spend was around $12.9 billion – quite a figure.

So what sort of advertising is ruling the roost?  Search is where the most money is spent on advertising, but where the figures increased for all other types of advertising, spending on search-based ads remained the same, so with a total growth increase this could be seen as search losing a slight market share.  Next on the list with a whopping 36% of the market share is banner advertising – the sort of advertising you find on most websites.

You can view the full report here.
